As the gem of the West Coast, it is no wonder that the Monterey Peninsula is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

WARNING: We have two beaches which are known for dangerous undertows: Monastery Beach south of Carmel on Highway 1 and Carmel River Beach.  Each year, Monastery Beach claims the life of at least one tourist.  If you visit these beaches, do not swim and stay clear of the water's edge, especially if you are on the rocks.
